Free Wednesday Tarot Class # 6

Hi welcome to our Free Wednesday Tarot class. This week we are meeting the Hierophant If you look at him in the Rider-Waite deck, you will see a male figure sitting between two pillars. Remember how the High Priestess sat between the pillars? He teaches the wisdom of the High Priestess. He is also known as the Pope and symbolizes ultimate power. He rules from the heart rather than the will. The word Hierophant comes from the Greek word Hiero which means “sacred” and phainein, meaning, “one who shows or brings light.” He shares his wisdom and teaches because the Hierophant has passed his tests of life. He wears a crown and holds a four leveled scepter. These all connect him to his clairaudience or “clear hearing”. When you have clairaudience you hear what is beyond the range of human hearing and are tuned into hearing messages from your Higher Self, your Angels and Guides... This symbolizes that we have the ability to tune in to our Higher Selves and access our own Kingdom of Wisdom with which we were born.

The Hierophant represents our intuition, our God/dess within. The number five is the number for Mercury, the planet of our mind, thinking and communication. His astrological sign is Taurus which is symbolized by the bull’s horns on the top of the pillars.

What does the Hierophant teach you? How can you connect with the Hierophant in your life? What challenges are you facing right now? Are you running around asking your co workers or friends what you should be doing? Are you taking advice from everyone around you even if it doesn’t feel right? Are you being criticized for being “different” from others and living your own life, rather than how they want you to live? Are you rushing around trying to accomplish everything and feeling like you are getting nowhere? Are you following a Guru or a teacher you think has all the information? To become the Hierophant in your life, it is imperative that you stop all this running and seeking everyone’s opinions. It is important that you ask yourself what do I want in my life. It is crucial that you put aside all the information that you have received from your friends, teachers, relatives and ask yourself, “What is right for me? What feels good for me? What if I go against what everyone else wants me to do? What if they don’t like me anymore or I disappoint them?” I am not advocating running into the hills to be a recluse, not at all, but if you are genuinely unhappy with your life, what can you do to change it?

Using our intuition means letting go of pre conceived ideas and teachings that we’ve received from others and going within to learn what works for us. Do you still live by the rules you learned as a child? Are they working for you? If they are, that is great and you should stick with them. But if they aren’t maybe you need to examine what is working and what isn’t. Maybe you think you know what you want for your life, but if you’re not happy with the decisions you’ve made based on what you were told you should believe, try relaxing enough to receive guidance from your Higher Self, which is always the truth. Even if you call on a psychic and what they tell you does not resonate within you, allow yourself to accept what feels right for you. Nothing is written in stone and it is up to us to accept or discard what works and what doesn’t. Each one of us creates our own worlds, for better or for worse. So don’t stay stuck in your “should’s and ought’s in life. Try not to let your old beliefs keep you repressed and affirm to yourself that you will trust your inner self, instead of running around obeying what others think you should be doing. I always like the phrase “don’t should on yourself.” Reexamine your beliefs, values, and traditions. Let your Angels and your Higher self speak to you and guide you. This may feel strange to you, but the more you practice the more comfortable you will feel.

The Hierophants advice:

Be in the present, not clinging to the past
Examine and let go of fixed beliefs
Continue learning, grow from your life’s experiences
Listen to your own inner Priestess and free yourself from unhappiness
Explore your traditions for what you want to keep and what you want to discard
Trust your own inner self no matter what others say.

What things cost in 1955

Comments made in the year 1955!
That's only 54 years ago!

'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $10.00.

'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $1, 000.00 will only buy a used one.

'If cigarettes keep going up in price, I'm going to quit. 20 cents a pack is ridiculous.

'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging 7 cents just to mail a letter

'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store.

'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 25 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.

'I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies any more Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it.

'I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas .

'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $50,000 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.

'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now.

'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet.

'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work.

'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.

'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to government.

'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.

'There is no sense going on short trips anymore for a weekend, it costs nearly $2.00 a night to stay in a hotel.

'No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $15.00 a day in the hospital, it's too rich for my blood.'

'If they think I'll pay 30 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'

Free Wednesday Tarot Class # 5

Hi and welcome our free Wednesday Tarot Class. Today we are talking about the Emperor. When you look at him in the Rider-Waite deck, he is a king seated on his throne, commanding and powerful. He represents Mars, which, in Astrology is our energy and how we use it, how energetic we are plus our drive to succeed. If you look at his throne you will see it is decorated with Ram’s heads. These correspond to Aries, which is ruled by Mars. Aries is a cardinal sign, the self-starter, and one who makes things happen. He is holding the scepter, called an Ankh that indicates he is the male giver of life. He has this wonderful ability to manifest what he wants, to give birth to creative ideas. The Emperor also represents balance. In his left hand (his passive, female side) he holds a globe, which depicts domination. This means having the desire to succeed combined with our female side; Love (Venus) is a powerful formula for success.

Our Emperor is the builder, hence the number 4. Think of four sides of a square, the four elements (Air, Earth, Fire and Water); four seasons of the year, four points to the compass (north, south, east and west). The Emperor is a father figure, whom we can trust.

What kind of empire have you built for yourself? Your world is your empire, your domain. We all have our own Emperor within. Just as we have a female side, our Empress - we have this strong, masculine, builder within that we can work with. Do you have practical and logical plans for your life? Is your life working for you or did you just “settle”, hoping some day things will change?

Are you waiting for that “someday” when you meet Mr. /Miss Soul mate? How about when you get that perfect job, when you get that raise, or when he ‘pops the question’? Perhaps you are waiting for when your kids grow up or and you can retire and then do what you want? Have you put your life on hold until that ‘something or someday’ comes that will make you happy? This is what the Emperor is all about. He is determined, resolute for his life to work. Our Emperor is the doer part of us. He stands for authority. He is the Magician after he unites with the High Priestess. Remember her, she goes within to learn how to use her magic, and what she wants to do then she changes into the Empress who makes the Emperor the Father of her children.

What are your sets of plans for your life? So many times I hear, “I don’t know, I wish someone would tell me.” Is your life made up of shoulds or would’s? Take a minute and ask yourself, am I doing this or that because it is joyful to me or do I say yes because I’d feel guilty if I didn’t? Of course there are times when we want to help another person and we say yes, but do we continually give our lives over to solving other people’s problems? Ask yourself the next time you are tempted to say yes to someone’s request, “is this something I want to do, or am I just trying to make someone like me better, or do I feel sorry for them?” Are you living your life out of fear of doing or saying the wrong thing, or are you feeling joyous about facing the day? Does the thought of getting up in the morning enliven you? Are you excited and looking forward to your day? Are you having fun trying to accomplish your goals? If you are not having fun now, you won’t be enjoying yourself when you “get there”.

Is life supposed to be fun? If you are fulfilling what you came to earth to do, you will have a wonderful satisfied feeling within. The Latin word for Emperor is parere, which means to begat or give birth. When we give birth to who we are meant to be and not shirk from the fires of our desires, passions and ambitions, we will be walking our talk, inspiring others to create and together we can all make the world a better place.

When the Emperor comes up for you try to:

Be a Leader, be a pioneer
Knowing and using your power to create
Be daring, heroic, courageous
Explore, be a pathfinder
Maintain mastery over your mind and emotions
Manifest and nurture your ideas
Be a self-starter, get fired up

Next time we will meet the Hierophant

Opening up

Today I'm going to buy the book, Writing Down Your Soul by Janet Conner. I am following her blog and I realize that I need to get in touch with some emotions that I've been sucking in, instead of releasing. When I do that my body kicks me in the back or the gut and says, "hey you're doing it again." I'm tired of hurting so I've decided to take the next step and hope I feel better.

I think Susan Boyle the woman who dared sing in front of everyone in England has inspired me. As I watched the video and saw the snickers and the rolling eyes of people who thought, "someone as ugly as her is going to sound terrible" it brought back many memories of my life when people stared at my cleft lip. Some kids in school told me that I had a quiverlip and teased me. Another said she would be friends with me when no one was around. I should've beat her up but I didn't fight. Instead I sucked it up. So watching the audience before Susan sang felt like I was getting kicked in the gut. It felt too familiar. Then when she sang and everyone took another look it was wonderful and I sobbed. I took singing lessons too but I'll never sing like her. I also don't need to worry so much about how I sound either because, like Susan, I can be who I am and be proud of it.

There, I opened up! It wasn't too bad.

Ok let's see what tomorrow brings and what I will open up about.

Hugs, Me

Free Wednesday Tarot Class #4

Hi welcome to our Wednesday weekly Tarot class. This week we will meet the Empress. She is a beautiful, young woman sitting in a garden surrounded by blooming flowers. She is fertile and in some of the decks she looks pregnant. I use the Rider-Waite deck to describe the illustrations in these articles. If you look at this card, there is a heart shaped shield next to her with the symbol of Venus on it, which is the Goddess of Love. She is impregnated with the seeds of love that we all need to begin feeling for our families, ourselves our world, now that we are in the Age of Aquarius. The Empress is the protector, the Earth Mother, the creator and nurturer. She loves the Earth and she wants us all to protect it. The Empress gives birth to new ideas. She takes good care of her babies (ideas) and protects them. She is the number III card, which comes from 2+2 = 3, the birth of two opposites (male and female) When this card comes up in a reading it can mean someone is pregnant with a baby or is going to give birth to some creative new ideas. It can also mean prosperity in your life coming from new ideas, or that you love nature and need to spend more time outdoors. You could also be working with children or animals. You have to listen to your inner self to discern what this card means when you are reading for others.

You are the Empress in your life, whether you are male or female. You were born with the seeds of greatness within you, planted there by your creator. How are you using your greatness? What is your life all about? Is it filled with creative, new ideas, or are you still believing what you were told as children, that you can’t do this, and you have no talent for that, and why didn’t you get all A’s on your report card? One of the fallacies I have uncovered is how children were put down for talking about their “imaginary” playmates or saying things that “grownups” don’t understand, like –“I saw Grandpa the other night. He came into my room and talked to me.” The parents holler at them, saying, “Oh that was just your imagination, he’s dead, stop making things up.” And the poor children get scolded. This pushes down and often stifles their creativity. Has this happened to you?

Most of my clients are tickled to hear they always have loving Angels around them. Many had no idea. “Why don’t I hear them?” I am asked, “Were you told to listen to your angels as children?” They answer no. They want to know how to contact their angels and how can they hear them. “Just talk to them in your thoughts, they will hear you,” I say. “But don’t expect to hear a loud booming voice coming from your ceiling, as an answer.” Angels talk to us in dreams, in our imagination, through other people – they communicate with us in many ways. Pay attention to feelings you get, that are different from your every day feelings. Heed those unexpected, ideas that seem to come to you from out of the blue, from your ‘blessed imagination’ that everyone told you was imaginary That is one of the major ways that our angels communicate to us, by putting wonderful, creative ideas into our imagination.

Be the Empress in your life and protect and nurture your creative ideas. Bring them into fruition. We are all Mother-Empress’s in our own lives so don’t try to smother people, or make them change to keep you happy. Nurture the seeds of greatness in others, by acknowledging them with love and kindness. You can help people more by becoming role models than all the talking in the world.
Walk your talk, teach by example and explore this wonderful creative, loving Empress within.

The Empress’s advice:

*Be imaginative; create.
*Be poetic and non judgmental
*Show your feelings and give unconditional love
*Take responsibility; more patient
*Be supportive and nurturing
*Plant mental seeds of joy and creativity
*Listen to beautiful music; be aware of beauty around you

Next week we will meet the male creator, the Emperor

How much $$ did we pay in 1965

As I was going through my journals I found some spreadsheets I kept in 1965 of our expenses. We had a 2 bedroom house and were paying $55.20 a month! By 1967 the mortgage payment "soared" to $59.45 and I worried how we were going to be able to afford it. This was just at the time I was learning about the laws of prosperity using the book, The Dynamic Laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder. At that time I didn't even have the money to buy the book so my aunt sent me a birthday check and that was how I got it.

Here are some of the prices we paid for our monthly expenses back then. I hope you all will enjoy this and be amazed.

Phone: $6.35 in 1966 it jumped to $12.00.
Electric: $7.95
Food: $65.00 give or take a few dollars - monthly.
Car insurance for the whole year was $146.00
Sears account: $8
Trash pickup: $5.25
Dental to have teeth cleaned: $5
Doctor visit: $5.00
Glasses frames: $12.00
Income tax $14.07
School supplies: $25.00
Readers Digest subscription: $2.99
McCalls subscription: $1.98

Our total expenses for 1965 was $2,314.86

I found this from http://www.thepeoplehistory.com/1965.html

Cost of Living 1965
How Much things cost in 1965
Yearly Inflation Rate USA 1.59%
Yearly Inflation Rate UK 5.0%
Year End Close Dow Jones Industrial Average 969
Average Cost of new house $13,600.00
Average Income per year $6,450.00
Gas per Gallon 31 cents
Average Cost of a new car $2,650.00

Average Rent per month $118,00

Here is a little slide show about what was popular in 1965.

Hope you all enjoy the trip back on memory lane. Some of you may not even have been born then.

Wednesday Tarot class # 3

Hi and welcome to our Wednesday Tarot class. This week we are introduced to a new friend, the Priestess. She is number 2, which represents balance. The beautiful Priestess sits on her throne at the doorway of an ancient Temple. In some decks she is known as the High Priestess and she is the guardian of the great library of all knowledge. She sits between two pillars – a white one bearing the Hebrew letter Yod meaning yes or positive energy and a black one with the Hebrew letter Beth, meaning no and negative energy. The Priestess does not judge. She holds a Torah scroll in her hand, a scroll also known as the Akashic records – all knowledge. The Priestess is related to the moon (intuition) and subconscious mind. Her ruling sign is Cancer – water and if you look at the High Priestess card you can see water flowing behind her and on the bottom of her robes.

When you get this card it is telling us to go within. Don’t act right away; get quiet and mediate until the true answers are revealed.

How does she represent us? She is that part within us who knows the Truth. She doesn’t take any actions, instead she sits patiently, waiting for and seeking guidance. She isn’t impulsive.

Do we act on impulse because it was the way we were taught or programmed? Have we been told if we aren’t always working, or always on the go that we are lazy, non productive? Do you stay late at work because your boss puts too much work on you and you’ve been taught to be good and not stand up for yourself? Many women learned this lesson well, that it is their job to take care of their husband’s, always be driving their children to some lesson or class, and working outside the home. When do we rest? Are we always running around to get ahead, because we need approval, or maybe from fear of listening to our inner selves? Do you celebrate holidays the way you are expected to, or do you create your own ritual that is not so frenetic? The Priestess in you knows. She invites you to stop running around making everyone else happy, wearing yourself to a frazzle and take time for yourself.

Are you feeling like there is no time left in the day for you and do you fall into bed exhausted only to begin the whole tiring routine again the next day? Is the life you envisioned for yourself? Does it excite you? Do you wake up in the morning looking forward to your day or do you silently think, “Ugh, another day, I can’t wait until the weekend.” TGIF is a common phrase. Thank God It’s Friday! What about Monday through Thursday? If this is your thinking, your life, you may want to stop and become reflective like your Priestess. She has words of wisdom for you. She can give you ideas how to change your life so that you enjoy it more and are more productive in less time. You can ask her “What can I do to make my life more fulfilling? What can I do to wake up excited to face my day?”

Remember I suggested that you get a pack of Tarot cards and shuffle them, asking your Angels “what is my message for today?” If you haven’t done this, reflecting on your Priestess might encourage you to begin this exercise. Or you could get a notebook or one of those fancy journals they sell in the stores now and begin writing about your feelings. Self-examination can be rewarding.
When things go awry in your life, instead of blowing up and stressing, try acting as if you are the Priestess Instead of over reacting, take some deep breaths and practice staying calm. Ask yourself what she would do. This kind of new behavior takes practice but you can learn to have less stress in your life, to be calmer and to think more clearly. We can always turn to our Priestess for answers about our relationships. Are you being treated with love and respect, or is he/she disappointing you at every turn? Is he calling when he said he would or does she keep you guessing? Are your relationships hurting you, one after another? How can you change this pattern? Probe your childhood memories and see how your parents treated each other. Who taught you not to be respected and loved? Sometimes a past life regression can be healing too. Pay attention to your dreams and write them down.

The Priestess’s advice:

*Reflect; be aware
*Know yourself; examine your life plan
* Dissolve negativity and find new answers to your problems
*Get in touch with your innermost feelings
*Go on a mini retreat; seek your place of calm and serenity
*Listen to your inner self; become more intuitive
*Know your truth

Next week we will meet our Empress, the beautiful fertile lady filled with love and creativity.

Let’s talk about these cards, feel free to write and let’s get a discussion going! It will be fun and we’ll learn a lot. Pull a card this week and see what comes up for you.

^I^ Angel Hugs to all of you !

Free Wednesday Tarot Class #2

Hi and welcome to the Wednesday Tarot Lesson. This week we are examining the second Tarot card, the Magician. When this card comes up in a reading it is all about making things happen – transformation and materialization. He is number 1, which represents the Aces, the zero’s ability to turn dreams into physical form.

Remember the Fool last week? He had all his tools for transforming his life in his knapsack that he carried over his shoulder. The Magician’s mental tools of life are right in front of him on a table so he can occupy himself investigating how to use them. They are the wands (spiritual, action, courage, enterprise and is associated with element of fire); Cups (love, emotions, intuition, birth, marriage and is associated with the element of water); Swords (problems, troubles, mental attributes, strife and adaptability. The sword is associated with air). Pentacles (money, health, dependability, material possessions and is associated with the element of Earth), These same elements are found in astrology too.

If you look at the Magician he is standing in a garden filled with beautiful flowers. Above him is the figure eight turned sideways, the symbol of eternal life. He is holding a double-headed wand with one end pointing upward toward his Higher Guidance and the other end downward. He is able, with mental discipline, to bring the spiritual energy from above down to every day life and materialize his desires.

What areas of your life would you like to reconstruct, change, energize? Did you meditate on last week’s fool asking yourself “who’s life am I living?” Did you reflect on your career and whether you are living your passion? If so, now you can turn to the Magician within to help you make your adventurous fool’s hopes and dreams come true. Using your magic symbol of wisdom and power, you can discover your true talents and joys and begin expressing them. Visualize your world of possibilities; use what you already have in your life to begin manifesting your higher aspirations. If you want to change your career, find someone in your community who does this kind of work. They can give you pointers to help you get the training you need. If your problems are about love and relationships, what are you thinking? Are you stuck in the past, afraid to love again? Or are you focusing on the future, wondering if you’ll ever find your true love? What if you are in a relationship? Are you so busy dwelling on and remembering past hurts and worrying if they are going to call or what they are doing now? How about focusing on the here and now, tapping into your inner Magician and the tools at your disposal for change! Instead of comparing yourself with everyone else and wondering if you measure up, stop and pay attention to your thoughts. Do you spend most of your day worrying if he or she loves you or if you are good enough at your job? Actually worry is visualizing the worst. Because thoughts are energy, then your worry could actually be creating experiences you don’t want. “But I’ve always worried,” I often hear. That doesn’t mean you have to be a worrier for the rest of your life. Remember your magician within. You have to tools for change. Our creator gave these tools to us so we could transform our lives. Take your power back! Don’t waste your energy with worn out doom, gloom and worry – all negative energies.

Become your own Magician and use the tools that you were born with to heal your life. Become your own Divine Potential! Turn your worry energy into knowing that all things are possible when you begin to be more positive. That, in turn, can make you feel more self-confident, which in turn gives you clearer vision, which leads to finding do-able answers to those worries you are beginning to change. Yes it takes practice – lots of it! And yes, you will slip backwards from time to time. We all do. Just go oops, I slipped and pick yourself up and start again. Don’t waste more energy beating yourself up because you aren’t perfect. None of us are.

When you empower yourself and your life, then you can begin empowering others. They will want to know your secrets and ask you why you look so radiant these days.

Enjoy your new friend, your Magician within.

The Magician’s advice:

*Be imaginative realize you have a world of possibilities

*You can think clearly and make adjustments

*Use your magic everywhere you are

*Try different methods of communication to express yourself

*Create your own personal symbols

*Visualize

*Weave your dreams into glorious possibilities.

Next week we will talk about the beautiful Priestess and how you have your own intuition and Truth within you.
