Why I Love Facebook

I got 279 Birthday wishes just on Facebook yesterday! I feel wrapped in a special blanket of love! 279 birthday greetings! Before Social Media I was lucky to get ten birthday cards. Sure people say it's better to write a letter instead of texting or posting on Social Media. They can have their opinion but I thoroughly enjoyed my Facebook Birthday Here is a sampling of some of the posts I received.

Facebook actually made a video for me.

There were funny Greetings

Sweet and pretty ones too

Happy Birthday, Jean! May your new year be filled with love, joy, health, peace, prosperity, and abundance!

Happy Happy Birthday Jean Maurie. The angels love you and so do I. I hope you have a wonderful celebration and wonderful year ahead.

I wish you all that your Heart desires...

Happy Birthday Jean! Have a lovely day and a fabulous year ahead...  and lots more..

I got a lot of free coupons from restaurants for desserts and several places sent me coupons for actual FREE meals including one of my favorite Asian restaurants.

Oh yes, I can't forget the Amazon gift certificate from a friend.
So how could I not feel loved?  The greetings are still coming in! So thank you from my heart to all of you who took the time to make my birthday special including my son who phoned me and my husband who took me to dinner and shared the day with me.
A special thanks to Facebook for all you do so people can celebrate their special days.

There Are Many Faces of Courage

Someone posted this video in a group I belong to on Facebook.  I watched it as tears filled my eyes.  What wonderful parents she has to encourage her to try different obstacles and grow braver.  It made me wonder what my life would have been like had I been encouraged instead of warned that everything was too dangerous or unladylike.

Of course there are different ways to be brave and although I didn't climb through obstacles I faced other things with courage.

On the Rachael Ray show today a woman was on who decided to face 100 fears. Her name is Michelle Poler and she has a You Tube Channel called Hello Fears

I understand why my mother was so afraid of me getting hurt because she nursed me through many facial surgeries and of course she didn't want me to get hurt.  But I'm intrigued by those who face their fears instead of letting them rule their lives.

What fears would you like to eliminate from your life?

Is Your Life A Journey or a Joy?

I just watched this video (posted below) on Facebook and felt tears well up and roll down my face.  It brought up some strong emotions.

I wonder how many of us followed the rules, trying to "get there" but it didn't work.  Did you? What are your experiences?  I would love to read them if you feel vulnerable enough to share.

The rules to be a good daughter, student, wife, mother... Clean the house when I'd rather be writing or dancing.  Have dinner on the table when my husband came home from work. Feeling guilty because I wasn't out working.  Or even feeling guilty while writing because I wasn't doing laundry or vacuuming.

This might sound whining and maybe it is. This is how we were brought up in the 40s.  I've been unlearning.

Here is a poem I loved and would read when I felt guilty writing or playing.  It helped some.

Signs We Might Miss if We're Not Tuned In

Today when I got out of the car at Wal-Mart, I looked down in the parking lot and saw a safety pin.  Hmm, is this a sign, I wondered. Then I laughed to myself.  What a dork, thinking a safety pin is a sign.  Who am I kidding?  But the thought stayed in my head. Usually I find pennies in parking lots, not safety pins.

When I got home I logged into Facebook and onto the angel group I belong to.  As one of the administrators there I private messaged the others and asked, " I saw a safety pin on the ground when I got out of the car. Do any of you think that it is a "sign" ... safety... or am I just grasping at straws?

"Hmmm...if your first instinct was that it is a sign then it probably is. I would explore what a safety pin means to you, personally." Gale replied.

Yes it was my first instinct but then I laughed. It stuck with me though so I do think it means something. I was having a lot of anxiety this morning as I went to the doctor's to get my blood drawn for cholesterol and all that malarky. I think stuff came up from my childhood with those planets retrograde and my solar return with a lot of planets in my 12th house. So the safety pin works actually.

"Perfect then," Gale said,

Ha ha, I didn't trust my judgment and had to ask. Learned something here too

"Indeed...but I think we all go through that, Jean...moments of uncertainty. Perhaps the greater lesson here was that in asking, you reminded all of us the importance of trusting our instincts."

Karen jumped in and said, "I agree with Gale trust your first instinct on seeing the pin". She went on to say, "Something you weren't looking to see and weren't even looking for as a sign but if it came to your mind as a sign then it was one."

Next Karen reminded me of a picture I'd posted on my Facebook page this morning when we got behind a slow moving tractor and added, "Just saw this and thought to myself perhaps this is another sign to relax and take it easy."

Sure enough, another sign that I missed.   "Everything is under control and everything happens in due time".

This is especially meaningful for me too because we're downsizing, putting our house up for sale but we don't know for sure where we're going.  "Everything is under control and everything happens in due time."  I want to remember this.

I looked up safety pin in the urban dictionary and found this:  "A holy object that can be used for multiple purposes. Putting things together. A pin used for fastening things especially cloth, which has a round end into which the sharp end points, so that it is covered and cannot stick you."  Ah, protection! Nice!

Oh how I love talking to my earthly angel friends.  We help each other see things differently and we post angel messages, angel cards with so much love on the angel page.

So pay attention to your own signs.  Try not to doubt your intuition so much.  I know it's easy to doubt just like I did today but if you pay attention and trust you will probably start seeing even more signs that speak to you with meaningful messages.

TRANSFORMATION THROUGH THE YEARS

My life has evolved and is so different from the me's that I have been back through the years.

How cool is this! Imagine being born in a time when there were no TV's, and seeing the changes from tiny black and white tv's to color, to Big Screens. We used to listen to our favorite shows on the radio and used our imagination to visualize the scenes.

From telephones where we picked up the receiver and heard an operator say, "number please" to rotary phones, then smart phones.

Then from bulky expensive computers to light weight, rather inexpensive laptops and tablets.

I couldn't even tell anyone what I wanted to be when I grew up - it hadn't even been invented yet!!!

Who would have thought that this child who felt like she didn't feel like she fit in with her peers and felt really stupid in school, turned out to love posting on Facebook, twitter and creating her own web page with 1411 Facebook friends, many who really like her!!! This is an amazing and healing Ah Ha!! Wow!!!

Now having her own blogtalk radio show, Personal Empowerment For Your Soul with co-creator Maggie Lukowski.

Life has been full, curious and I wonder what's coming next!

Thanksgivings now and then

While I was sitting here at my computer on this Thanksgiving 2012, someone posted a picture on Facebook of a group of people sitting around the dinner table totally disconnected from each other. I stared and stared at it thinking how much the world has changed. This got me thinking about thanksgiving's from my past. Look at the difference between these two pictures.
What a difference between these two gatherings! Isn't this amazing how the people in the first picture are all connecting electronically. They don't even seem to see the food waiting to be eaten. It looks like they don't even care.

In the second picture people are smiling at each other, probably talking about the turkey that's being put on the table.

Here's another group connecting. How times have changed!  Yes they are all connecting - yet in different ways.  I love the fact that we aren't stuck at home waiting for phone calls anymore now that we have cell phones.  I love that computers, cell phones and Skype can connect each other over the world. A person who is alone with a cell phone or a computer doesn't have to feel totally isolated.  But human connection is important too.  I am thankful that we have choices!  I am thankful for the people in my online thriving now group and for my Facebook friends too.  It can be too easy to isolate ourselves with all the electronic opportunities available.  This has all given me a lot to think about. How about you?

Birthday and Wedding

I can hardly believe it's been this long since I posted a blog, but yep it has. My 76th birthday was May 6 and I got almost 200 birthday greetings on my facebook page. I felt like I was wrapped in a huge blanket of love. The nice part is that all of the well wishes are still on my timeline.

The day before my birthday our granddaughter got married in Florida. We were unable to attend and I struggled with a lot of emotions. Happy for her, sad that we weren't there. So May was a mixed bag of fluctuating emotions.

Yes every year we do get a chance to start anew. As I work with my EFT Group, Thriving Now, I'm experiencing myself in new ways every day. I'm excited about all the new possibilities ahead for this year.

So I'll be posting more frequently again.

New Computer - software, where's the software?

I got a new computer this week. My other one was 5 1/2 years old and it was acting like it was 95. It sputtered, locked up and I had to reboot at least every three hours, especially when I was farming. Farming? Yeah I have a farm on facebook. Why? Good question, but its fun as long as I don't have to harvest every day. Pumpkins take 4 days and then I have 4 days to harvest them.

I was able to buy a new DELL computer with windows xp professional. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd had to deal with Vista. I've heard so many bad things about that Operating system.

I got my computer backed up by my computer guru "my brother" and he upgraded some programs for me, so I am on a learning curve right now, trying to figure out why a newer version of a program won't work the same as the older version - like saving pictures in email. It works completely different but at least I have more color choices for my fonts.

I have to install my astrology program and the love and destiny card software and paint shop. I dreaded all of this but it will be worth it in the end.

OH yes our Flat screen TV died that we bought ourselves for Christmas. It was an Insignia, Best Buy's brand. It took them 9 days to get to us to check it out. Finally on Friday someone came and said it was the power supply and told us to go to the store and get it replaced. So we upgraded and bought an LG. It is nice and has a good rating in Consumers.

So this has been an electronic week for us. Tiring, exciting, frustrating but fun.

Happy Father's day to all the father's out there.
