Life before TV's to chatting live with a friend In Sweden.

Today is day 6 of Artfully Wild Blog Along.  Effy blogged about how the internet is her hometown.  I have been trying all day to figure out what to blog about until I read hers.

I was born before TV.  Yep, we used to listen to our stories on the radio. "The shadow knows..",  Sky King,  The Green Hornet.. We used our imaginations picturing what they were saying.  It was fun, like reading a book and picturing the characters.

When we wanted to make a phone call we'd pick up our phone and wait until the operator said, "Number please."  Sometimes we could hear a conversation because we shared party lines and had to wait until the other conversation was done to make our call.   We were trapped in our homes if we had to wait for a call.  Not anymore. We have our cell phones and can go anyplace and still get our important and unimportant calls.

In the late 1940s we got our first TV but there weren't many channels and they always signed off at midnight.  I remember watching the Milton Berle show on Tuesday nights.  Of course they were black and white. We didn't get a color TV until the 70s.

I've kept a diary since before I was married and during my high school years. But when I got married my stepfather and I burned them. Burned them? What was I thinking?  I guess I didn't want my husband to find out.  Ha ha, I sure was brainwashed.  I started keeping a journal in 1963 before JFK was shot.  I have 15 filled books and many are numbered, all are dated.  I would love to do something with them but so many of my entries were fights between my mother and myself.  Not sure the world needs to read these.

I was pretty agoraphobic during this time but in the 1970s Citizens Band Radio came along (CB) and I took to that like a duck out of water. My mother was an amatuer radio operator (Ham) and she wanted me to become one too.  I wasn't interested and didn't have the money for all the equipment anyhow.  But CB radio got me to be more social.  I remember telling my husband that I didn't want to meet any of them and wasn't going to any of the get togethers, which they called "breaks."  But I did and they were fun.  I remember he and I dancing to Country music and wondering what happened because before we didn't like that kind of music.   Hubby got involved in raising money for the Leukemia society and I was furious at him until I got involved too. I ended up staying up all night talking to the truckers kidding around and asking for donations.  We raised a lot of money. I called myself The Confessor because I wrote and sold Confession stories to True Confessions and True Romance magazines.

Next came computers.  I got the first color computer where we had to type in code to get a silly little program to run.  I loved to type so it was fun for me but I wanted more.  I had been writing stories on typewriters.  Hubby was a typewriter repairman so I got to try out different models. But boy when I made a mistake on a story I wanted to submit it was either use white out or type the whole darned page again.  Computers changed all that.   I graduated to a more sophisticated computer called the Commodore 64.  I had fun with it but it wasn't a writing machine.

I remember my brother had a program online called My Cozy Kitchen. These were bulletin boards where people could sign in and chat or play games. It was just before the internet became popular.  I was logged into my brother's computer and saw a link leading to something called the internet and got curious.  It took me to something that made no sense at all.  Brother came home, saw me messing around and asked me what I was doing. I said "I don't know, I'm lost."  LOL I am glad for my curiosity though, it keeps me from getting bored.

So my brother taught me how to create my own web page and I got my domain and started offering readings after taking a lot of courses.  Then I got hired to work on a chat line that was a lot of fun. I made a lot of money too.

A few years later I discovered blogtalk radio and had my own radio program for 3 years.  That was such fun.  Now I go live on Facebook sometimes. I want to do more, learn more and have more fun.

So, like Effy, my hometown is also the internet.  I have a dear online friend in Sweden and once a month she and I co create together an EFT/tapping call as Team Leaders on the Thriving Now site we belong to.  We help others release some of their stuck energy.  She was traveling in a car from where she lives in the southern part of Sweden to the northern part and I was chatting with her LIVE on Facebook! I was blown away by just thinking of what we were doing.  Who would have thought when I was a child listening to my stories on the radio that 70+ years later I would be chatting live with an online friend in Sweden?

What's next?  I don't know but I'm experimenting with creating an angel webinar or ...  That's another blog.

TIME FLIES

Eighty years and 5.9 months. Where did time go? One minute at a time. One hour, one day, one week, and so on.

How many weeks have I been alive? According to How Long Have I been Alive: Its been 2,540,100,810 seconds, 705,583 hours,29399 days,  4199.9 weeks, 965.9 months.

What have I done with this time?  Ah, many things.  Had lots of experiences.  What were my favorites?  So many... I am grateful for so much.  When I think of how many beats my heart made to keep me here, I feel so blessed.  I met so many cool people during my time on earth.  Many have passed on but I meet new ones all the time.  I am blessed for my wonderful husband.

I didn't even have TV when I was born, now we have Social Media where we can communicate with people all over the world.

I belong to a new moon prayer tribe on Facebook and it's international!

I have my ThrivingNow tribe and we're also international.

My friend in Sweden was traveling to north Sweden and I was able to chat with her while she was riding and she sent me some pictures of the town they drove through.  How awesome is that?

I am so glad I lived to see it all.  What more exciting things am I going to experience?

Yes I've had some regrets but who hasn't?

Do you feel like your days are flying by?  What are you doing with them? Are you having fun or struggling? If you feel vulnerable enough I'd love to know if this blog brought up any feelings for you.  Post them below or private message me if you want.  I hope you are having an awesome life.

How Do You Want to Feel?

Five days with sporadic internet outages!  I phoned my internet provider daily, got apologies, work order numbers and promises.  I told them I needed my internet to be working on Thursday at 1pm because I was the host of a radio show and was told, "Oh yes it will be working."  But I had an uneasy feeling, rightfully so.  I called Maggie, my co-host and asked her to run the studio as host, which she did. I logged on as co-host and just as I suspected, my internet went down during the show again. At least I was able to interview our guest on the telephone.

Not sure if you know but I am a big proponent of Emotional Freedom Technique and tapping.  But on the 3rd day with my internet going up and down, being totally unreliable, I was so angry that tapping didn't help much. But I tapped anyhow because I knew I was getting a benefit somewhere in my body. But I wasn't feeling less angry.  My husband suggested we get out of the house for awhile and see if our new friend who owned a farm had any silver queen corn. Bernie called him and he had four ears left that he would save for us so we drove over to his farm. As we drove I kept asking myself, "How do I want to feel?" I was still furious about the internet outage because I was paying business rates and it was almost impossible to run an online business without being able to get online.

Tapping Points

I touched each one of the upper tapping points saying, "how do you want to feel?"  I began feeling calmer and I started focusing on the trees with their beautiful green leaves. I began noticing how many different shades of green there are on the different trees.   I focused on smelling the fresh air coming in the car window.  The sun was shining, I am healthy, I have a loving husband, we have a home, money to buy food and life is good.   I am so blessed to have learned the wonderful question, "How Do You Want to Feel?" From my coaches, Rick Wilkes and Cathy Vartuli.   How do you want to feel has helped change the way I look at problems, it has been a stress reliever and I don't stuff my feelings like I used to.

When we got to the farm, he was no where to be found but that was okay because we weren't in a hurry.  We saw a bag with the corn waiting and I looked at the rest of the vegetables he had in the baskets.   The fresh yellow squash was so beautiful so I bagged up some.  I'd been buying lots of fresh vegetables and making soup for the winter.  Here are some of the beautiful tomatoes he had for sale.

I decided to take some pictures with my cell phone because it was such a peaceful place to be and I continued feeling blessed.

The farmer's name is Mr. Lance and he had been inside eating lunch and didn't hear us pull up.   He is a native of this area of North Carolina and had some interesting stories to tell. We pulled up some chairs and enjoyed listening to him.  I also liked how he had this book that he wrote all the purchases down and then added them up with a calculator.  No credit cards, no electronic devices.  How cool and down to earth!

I wanted to  feel better - calm and happy instead of angry and it worked.  Here are some more beautiful pictures on the farm.

Another wonderful benefit of tapping and asking myself how do I want to feel is that I don't get the old stomach aches I used to get when I was upset and frustrated.   I don't get as many headaches or backaches either. No I'm not perfect yet and I still have more to learn and practice but I feel very blessed.

Daring to Find Myself

This morning I saw this picture on Facebook and it triggered some heavy emotions in me.  I could hardly catch my breath as I read these words.  I let fear rule my life. Now that I've been involved with EFT, especially Thriving Now with Rick Wilkes and Cathy Vartuli, I'm learning to find those pieces of me I hid because I was afraid of being judged how I looked, how i spoke, and more.  I've climbed a few emotional mountains and found bravery within I never knew I had. I'm sure there are more pieces of myself I can reclaim as I continue to climb mountains, drive to unknown places and dance to my music. Does anyone want to join me?

What's Stopping you from Achieving your dreams? Is it Time To Take The Parking Brake Off Your Life…And Have More Fun!

Do you feel stuck, have projects you have to do but just can’t get around to working on them?

Do you start beating yourself up about procrastinating and call yourself lazy?

Do you feel overwhelmed and wonder if there is something wrong with you?

Not fun is it?

What if it isn’t your fault? What if there is nothing wrong with you? What if you could find a new way to live your life more successfully with less struggle?

“First, it’s important to know that none of this is your fault! The struggle and pain you’ve been through isn’t because you’re bad or don’t deserve abundance. The reason you’ve been struggling is because a part of your brain has been fighting you.  Why would my brain fight me you ask?

There is a part of the brain, called the Primitive Brain that focuses on survival. Its main purpose is to protect you. This part of your brain has first dibs on all your resources. Your primitive brain will flood you with adrenaline and other chemicals to let you run faster than you ever thought possible to escape a bear. It can give you the strength and courage to fight a mugger or pull a car off a small child.”

My primitive brain tried to keep me safe when I was having a lot of surgeries as a child.  I was terrified but told not to cry, to be brave and be a good girl. So instead of letting my fears out I stuffed them and tried to be a good girl.   I couldn’t run away, I couldn’t fight so I froze.   I developed phobias which turned into agoraphobia, the fear of having panic attacks and losing control.   I would sit in school, so scared that I couldn’t learn and I made terrible grades.   I lost confidence in myself and didn’t know where I’d be when I had a panic attack.  I knew where every bathroom was and carried a portable toilet in my van.  I stopped going to restaurants, stopped traveling and wouldn’t go to meetings or movies.  Along with this came body pains – backaches and stomach aches.  Life wasn’t fun.

I searched for answers with hypnosis, “primal scream therapy”, talk therapy, desensitization therapy, prayer, meditation, and more. Everything helped a little but it wasn’t until I discovered Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and joined Rick Wilkes and Cathy Vartuli at Thriving now, did I really find help.  I learned about the primitive brain and how it tried to keep me safe through all these traumas and I was able to release many of my old struggles.   Now that I understand that my primitive brain loves me so much it will do anything it can to keep me safe, I can use the tapping tools I learned from Rick and Cathy and work with my primitive brain instead of fighting with it.

Rick and Cathy have created this wonderful program, Reprogramming Your Primitive Brain And Take the Parking Brake off your Life.

Wow, imagine getting unstuck and having more energy to finish your projects easier and stop battling your way through life!

Imagine not feeling stressed at the end of your day!

Imagine having more self-confidence!

Imagine being able to sooth yourself and stop overeating, over shopping or whatever it is that you wish you could stop!

Imagine feeling excited about life rather than being fearful of change!

Imagine hearing your friends asking what you've done to yourself because you look younger, more relaxed and happier!

How do you do all this?

Check out Rick and Cathy's new program, Reprogramming Your Primitive Brain and Take the Parking Brake off Your Life.

See what they've created for you:

Guided meditations
Videos
A live hour call
Some super special bonuses to help you with romance, law of attraction, abundance, sex & relationships and more.

I have received so much help working with Rick Wilkes and Cathy Vartuli  these past three years that I believe in any program they create.  That's why I am so excited about this program and writing about it - so YOU can enjoy your life more, have more fun with less stress.

Thanksgivings now and then

While I was sitting here at my computer on this Thanksgiving 2012, someone posted a picture on Facebook of a group of people sitting around the dinner table totally disconnected from each other. I stared and stared at it thinking how much the world has changed. This got me thinking about thanksgiving's from my past. Look at the difference between these two pictures.
What a difference between these two gatherings! Isn't this amazing how the people in the first picture are all connecting electronically. They don't even seem to see the food waiting to be eaten. It looks like they don't even care.

In the second picture people are smiling at each other, probably talking about the turkey that's being put on the table.

Here's another group connecting. How times have changed!  Yes they are all connecting - yet in different ways.  I love the fact that we aren't stuck at home waiting for phone calls anymore now that we have cell phones.  I love that computers, cell phones and Skype can connect each other over the world. A person who is alone with a cell phone or a computer doesn't have to feel totally isolated.  But human connection is important too.  I am thankful that we have choices!  I am thankful for the people in my online thriving now group and for my Facebook friends too.  It can be too easy to isolate ourselves with all the electronic opportunities available.  This has all given me a lot to think about. How about you?

Birthday and Wedding

I can hardly believe it's been this long since I posted a blog, but yep it has. My 76th birthday was May 6 and I got almost 200 birthday greetings on my facebook page. I felt like I was wrapped in a huge blanket of love. The nice part is that all of the well wishes are still on my timeline.

The day before my birthday our granddaughter got married in Florida. We were unable to attend and I struggled with a lot of emotions. Happy for her, sad that we weren't there. So May was a mixed bag of fluctuating emotions.

Yes every year we do get a chance to start anew. As I work with my EFT Group, Thriving Now, I'm experiencing myself in new ways every day. I'm excited about all the new possibilities ahead for this year.

So I'll be posting more frequently again.
